He had a dream...

Our patriarch, Frederick W Lee, owned his first business at 6 years old when he had his brother, Wesley, and his friend Jack, work for him collecting  garbage in their wagons in the little town of Middlefield, NY where they all grew up. He has always been an entrepreneur; starting various  businesses throughout his late teens and early twenties, serving in the US Army for 2 years, marrying at the age of 23, becoming a father at age 24. One day he decided to flip a coin and see wether his next adventure would be going to auctioneer school or to become a publisher. Lee Newspapers, Inc. was established in the year 1964 so I guess we can all figure out how the coin toss ended up and he has never looked back! On the list of "other dreams" was always to own a Christmas Shop. In 2017 a building came available in downtown, Canajoharie, NY in the historic Wagner Square district. Once home to the original Spraker Bank of Canajoharie in the late 1800’s, the grand old girl still shines as a bright downtown icon! Lee's Shops was born and is ran by his daughter, Janet.

Mr Lee passed away on November 5, 2023 at the age of 88. He has left his mark on the Mohawk Valley and will be missed dearly by his family and friends.
